Crocheted Pansy

Still having fun crocheting flowers. This one is a pansy I made from a tutorial found here.

Inspiration Journal

Here is the cover for my newest inspiration journal. I have so many inspo books around, but this one is bigger. I loved the excuse to use some woodgrain shelf liner and my new black Dymo!

I would love to show you more inside pages, but I the photos turned out so blurry...

Circle Granny 'Squares'

Trying my hand at circle granny 'squares' from a tutorial found on Yvestown here. Although... I've got some differences in the last round. I put a dc in each st so now I don't know how to square them off! May have to start again.

You Are Loved

You are loved, dear blog reader. Thank you for stopping by my little ole blog. It's wonderful to have crafty friends. :)

Funnily enough (is that a word?), this is the name of the font I used in the above photo as well!

Crocheted Flower Experiments

The other day I tried this YouTube video tutorial on making a huge crocheted flower. See photos above. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I think it needs a stem of some sort. It took a long time, otherwise I would've made more. I bet a bunch hanging in a garland form would look really cute.

It's Been All About the Hearts

It's been all about hearts lately. I started making these little crocheted hearts at Christmas time and haven't looked back since. I was glad for another excuse to make up some more... namely, Valentine's Day!

This one is acting as an embellishment on my new inspiration clipboard (Style School project).

The pocket was handsewn since I was too lazy to get my sewing machine out. Vintage sheet and vintage fabric found at a thrift shop. Vintage button and lace from my stash. Oh! That's a Dottie Angel photo I printed out in there, one of my favourites!

I decided it was high time I did a little experimenting with lonely heart. So, I made two, added some stuffing in between and stitched them together.
The experimentation didn't stop there! I got a hold of some pink Glimmer Mist and had a go at that. My little off white cotton stuffy heart soon blushed.

Granny Square Pillow / Cushion Cover

So, the granny square afghan that I was making was taking to long to do, plus I ran out of some of the colours. Some of the yarn was scrap yarn and hard to match up. So instead of leaving another unfinished project, I decided to turn it into a cushion cover. Now I can call it DONE! :) I need to find another cushion form that will fit it better as the one I used is a bit small. I used 4 mismatched vintage buttons for the closure.

Handmade Christmas Gifts

I wanted to finally gather together in one place the handmade items I made for Christmas gifts this year. So here it is.
Miniature quilt shop for my MIL.

Cookie mix in a jar for pretty much everyone! :)

Burlap tote bags for my MIL and SIL.

Snowglobes by Lochlan for pretty much everyone!

Mini travel sewing kits with pin cushions on top for pretty much everyone (female, that is!).

Water bottle holders (one for me and one for my SIL).

Crocheted granny square case for my Mom.

A plush creature for Lochlan and a rag doll for Eireann.

Phew! It was a busy handmade Christmas! Maybe I'll start earlier this year. :)

Handmade Laptop Sleeves

I made this padded sleeve for my husband's mini laptop the other day. Unfortunately, he won't let me embellish it. (It's just crying for a little embroidery, but I guess that's not manly to him!).

Below is the laptop sleep I made last year for my mini laptop computer. Of course, I used pretty fabric, inside and out and embellished it! :) They are simple enough to make if you can make a zippered lined pouch. The only extra bit you need to do is add some padding inside, like quilt batting or a piece of felt.

Crocheted Granny Square Doll Dress / Jumper

I made this little granny square doll dress a couple of weeks ago for E's dolls. It is so simple to do. You just need 4 granny squares and 2 chains double crocheted, plus a couple of buttons of course. It is criss-crossed in the back.

Crocheted Chocolate Doughnut

Another doughnut to add to the collection. This time a chocolate fudge doughnut with chocolate 'frosting' and vanilla 'sprinkles.'

VIntage Hankie Blankie / Quilt

I finally finished the vintage hankie blankie / quilt that I began for Eireann when she was a wee thing. All that was left to do was add on the binding adn that took me all of about 18 months to get around to!

Snow Day Hat

I used Elsie Flannigan's tutorial to make this "snow day" hat for Eireann. I changed a couple of things: did some double crochet stitches along with single crochet stitches to speed it up a bit, added a contrasting colour trim and embroidered a little heart on the side. She really does like it, despite the look in the photo!

On my Lap

While watching LA TV last night, I was working on this crocheted tam for E. It's finished! She didn't like modeling it too much as you can see by the photos above!

Thrifted Diva Starz Doll

I got this cute Diva Starz doll recently from a thrift shop. She was about $1 and came in a bag with lots of other dolls. Her hair was really long, so I gave her a haircut... couldn't help myself. Eireann just loves this doll, but I'm afraid of her 'wrecking' her! I hope to make some really cute things for her.

A Couple of WIP's

Here are a couple of pouches I've been working on. I still have to tie in the ends of the thread and also add button closures.

Fabric Valentine's Heart Tutorial

Just in time for Valentine's Day! Make these plushy and bendy hearts to hang on your door or somewhere else to decorate your space. Below is a little tutorial so you can make some up yourself.

Step 1 - Cut a piece of thick cording (available at a sewing store in the drapery department) to your desired length. Cut a strip of pretty fabric, wide enough to cover the cording when folded over. Using wire cutters, bend and cut a section of a coat hanger to fit as well. Fold over and pin shut.

Step 2 - Sew along edge using a sewing machine and take out pins as you go. Bend it into a heart shape.

Step 3 - Handstitch the ends together at the centre of the heart. You can turn it over so the raw ends aren't visible or leave it as is like mine. I wasn't worried about the raw edges showing as my embellishments will cover it. :)

Step 4 - Finger knit or crochet a cord to wrap around the centre of your heart. Add a crocheted flower or a little handmade ruffle to the heart. Tie it together and hang it up. You are done!

Note - You can use this technique to make pretty much any shape you like. A circle would be really cute too! Please let me know if you make these, I'd love to see. :)

Little Pouch for a Little Boy

My 5 year old, Lochlan, loves little pouches and things that he can attach to a belt around his waist. So, I made him this little pouch using a size 10 hook. I should really line it since the stitches are so large. Eventually... On the back, there is a loop with a button so he can attach it to his belt loop. Now it's all ready for his little treasures.
