Miniature Quilt Shop

This is a project I was working on since the summer and waiting to show... it was a Christmas gift for my MIL, an avid quilter. It is set into a crate. The wallpaper is scrapbooking paper. I made the furniture from balsa wood pieces. The sewing machine and buttons I made from polymer clay. The little paper bags were hard to make, but I took apart a real one to follow. The sign was embroidered and I handstitched the little in-progress quilt. Such a fun little project!

Felt Brooches

Some felt brooches I've been working on. This was a great little project for the long car ride to Manitoba from Ontario!

Felt Circles

Did you all have a merry Christmas? We are visiting family in southern Manitoba right now and enjoying all the snow. We were snowed in for a bit, but the plough has come through and my FIL just snowploughed the laneway as well. We were all outside enjoying the snow and now have just finished some nice hot chocolate with hermit cookies courtesy of my MIL.

I've been up to lots of craftiness lately. Here is one little project. Felt circles sewed onto a piece of unbleached cotton. I don't know yet what this will be. For now it is a backdrop. :)

Crocheted 'shrooms

Does anyone know the difference between mushrooms and toadstools? I really should look them up. I made these mushrooms awhile ago (you may remember them in this photo with "Archie" my monster doll), but they needed a little finishing. They are made from a felt circle that I cut tiny holes in all around. Then I crocheted all along the edge, gradually forming the shape. Before closing it off, I added some stuffing. Lastly, I embroidered around the top and added another felt circle as well. While adding the last felt circle, I used the opportunity to pull it tight so the stem and top are like two pieces.

Happy Trees

I made these little trees (and more) last month, but never finished them until the other night. I had made up some little crocheted circles to embellish them using yarn, but they were too big so made them out of embroidery floss instead. Now they are Happy Trees!

Gift Tags

These are for a post going up on ScrapScene tomorrow. Holiday gift tags.

These are little sewing kits I made for Christmas gifts... shhhh!

TIny Deer

I purchased these tiny little deer / fawns from The Thin Veil. They are so sweet. I had planned to put them in snow globes, but we already did that project. So for now one or two of them may end up in a terrarium.

The Tiniest...

Yesterday, I did some work on a secret project for my MIL. I don't know if she has seen this blog yet or not so I don't want to reveal too much just in case! It's for Christmas. So.... for now I'll show you the tiniest embroidery I've ever done! Also, possibly the tiniest quilt I've ever made!

Fun crafting like this has got to be illegal (thankfully not here!).

Knitted Dolls

Last night, a nice German lady, a neighbour of ours, gave the kids each one of these handknit dolls she made. They are a scarecrow series she has been making. She is selling them also. So cute. I had seen pics of them in a flyer she had done, but had no idea that they were so large!

Cowgirl Cookie Mix in a Jar

We made 6 jars of Cowgirl Cookie Mix from Bakerella's recipe. These are a great gift idea! I got the idea from a commenter on a recent ScrapScene giveaway. I couldn't help but add on a couple of crocheted heart ornaments and chain to them!

Little crocheted heart ornaments using a Meet Me at Mike's tutorial. I have been including one each in some of my Christmas cards.

Granny Square Scarf... done!

My Granny Square Scarf is done! I just have to tie in all the ends. This is a special scarf because some of the yarn scraps I used were from a bag of yarn that was my Grandma's that I was given about 20 yrs ago!
In case you were wondering, I made mini granny squares to attach to my buttons too! They are removable.

Handmade Teepee

Here's another photo of the teepee / tent that my Mom made for the kids a few weeks ago. She made the floor removable with ties all around so it can be washed easily. There are 2 matching pillows/cushions inside. There is also a window on one side that closes with Velcro. The doorway in the front can be pulled open and tied at the sides. The poles are bamboo and there are 4 of them.

Felt Flowers

You can see my felt flower tutorial posted on ScrapScene now.

The above photo shows one of the flowers on some lined burlap bags I made for Christmas gifts. Shhhh, don't tell anyone!

A Little of This and That

Been working on so many little project this week. Lots of things around to inspire me so I keep jumping around from project to project!

A felt flower tutorial for ScrapScene (begin posted today), a granny square scarf for me (using scraps of yarn), and a pair of fingerless gloves. (I had to start a new pattern - the other one was too hard for me!)

Knitted Garlands

We have been having so much fun making these little knitted garlands. Last week I found a little tool at Michaels and my 5 yr old has been using it too! Then I tried the finger knitting tutorial from Making Chicken Salad. I find it a lot looser than the ones made with the tool, but I still love them all! I'll have to take some more pics of the others. When I was a kid, my Mom showed me how to do this with a little wooden tool. It's around somewhere. I'll have to look!

I love details. It's the seemingly little things, you know?

Meet Archie

This is "Archie"; A monster doll I made this week for my son for Christmas. He is wearing a little crocheted scarf with a small granny square and vintage button to close it. I also made the little toadstools from felt and then crocheted around them to create the shape. There is a little bit of embroidery on the top.

Crocheted Garland

This green triangular crocheted garland was originally intended to be leaves. I'm still working on trying to get that to work, but for now they will be triangles!

Meet Audrey

I just finished making this doll for Eireann, my 2 year old daughter. It will be a Christmas gift for her. (I also made a monster doll for my son, but don't have any pics yet.) I made the pattern myself as you can probably tell! :) It was such fun to make clothing and accessories for her! I am planning on writing a little tag with some info about the doll's 'story' as well. So far, I have her name, Audrey, and that she is going to market.

Mini Granny Squares

I have a plan for these mini granny squares! I can't tell you yet though! :)
